I am an independent K-12 education writer/editor seeking project or full-time employment. Specifically, I specialize in the development of curriculum, content, instructional resources and assessment. As an independent contractor, I work with K-12 publishing and software companies to develop instructional resources and learning solutions. Most of my work has focused on developing online and virtual learning courses.  When I initially began my career as a consultant, I functioned as a subject matter expert and developed content, lessons, activities, and assessments for social studies. My recent work has focused on copy editing, conducting image research, and performing quality assurance for textbooks as well as online and virtual learning courses.

Prior to beginning my career as an independent education consultant, I was a high school social studies teacher for eight years. After my eighth year as a classroom teacher, I left the classroom and accepted a position at the Indiana Department of Education as a social studies curriculum specialist. In this position, I gained a considerable amount of experience reviewing and updating the K-12 Indiana Academic Standards for Social Studies. I also assisted with the development of Indiana's assessment system for social studies including ISTEP (Grade 5 and 7) and the Acuity Diagnostic system. In this role, I created test blueprints, reviewed and edited items for content accuracy, and ensured all items aligned to state academic standards. I also provided consultation to schools across the state that focused on effective social studies instruction and pedagogy.
