A special message
from Laura ...
As your freelance copy editor, I will zero in on the intricacies, ensuring consistency in style and story. I continually sculpt my craft, broadening my grasp of language and storytelling, gaining insight, and polishing necessary organizational skills. I meticulously check for faulty grammar, correct erroneous spelling, and track down stray punctuation, using my key skills on every aspect of a manuscript:
review capitalization, style, and usage while preserving meaning; adhere to the house style guide
develop diplomatic author queries
maintain continuity and verify factual references
add coding for typesetting/design as needed
read for overall meaning and sense, researching as needed
For the last seven years, I worked steadily for Resource Publications, quickly becoming the exclusive copy editor of Celebrating the Lectionary, an all-ages bible story curriculum. The publisher recently sold the project to Liturgy Training Publications, who is now producing the project in-house, so I find myself again looking for regular projects. Over the years, I've edited everything from fiction, children's fiction, cookbooks, and video game manuals to Web sites/marketing materials, magazine and psychology articles, curriculum, and religious/spiritual/new age titles.
