Nikon D60 Nikkor; Wolf Camera?

OK, I'm back with yet another question. today i went to "wolf Camera" and checked out the Nikon D60 and The Nikon D80. I love both cameras very much but i cant get over the weight difference between the D60 and The D80 its amazing. now the girl there didn't know the answer to any of the questions i asked her but hopefully you all can help me. I want to do freelance photography nothing too big (not yet) but i want to create a portfolio and get my self out there. my main interest is Portraiture, Nature, Travel and all over Commercial Photography. now many people told me i cant do this kind of work with a D60 and to go to the D80 or even a D300 but that's way out of my price range. but i know people that have used The D70 and have done all of this successfully. now i want the D60 due to its size, weight and how comfortable it is. Questions.1) Can The D60 focus its self without an auto focus lens? 2) if not what's a good nikkor lens with VR and auto focus that's compatible with the D60
